hi, i'm vera, a ceramicist and teacher based in amsterdam. i make ceramic artwork with the intention of healing past wounds and finding balance.

i started putting my hands in clay somewhere during the pandemic. actively trying to heal from burnout and ptsd, i was desperate for a creative outlet.

ceramics, for me, is that one thing where you can completely lose yourself in for hours. throwing pots and sculpting can be very meditative, and many times i totally forget my surroundings when i've got my hands in the clay. it's allowed me to let my mind wander, to express emotions i can't find the words for and, maybe most importantly, to have fun without reserve. 

my sculptural work explores themes of intimacy, grief, connection and transformation, often through recurring symbolism inspired by religion, tattoo culture and the occult. motivated by my love for craftsmanship and emotional currents i aim to create pieces that allow darkness, romance, and vulnerability to coexist.

in my studio i aim to create an environment where people can come to explore their creativity and help them find that what ceramics has provided me.
